People with ink (tattoos) Essaypilot

Human beings interact with very different aspects as they carry on with their day to day activities. We, therefore, find ourselves in a society that has inculcated diverse religious, cultural and institutional set-ups. All these activities entail sociology which is a scientific study of society involving patterns of social relationships, social interactions, and culture. It simply involves the study of our social life, the changes that we usually undergo and the repercussions of our behavior. Since every human behaviour is considered social, the key factor of sociology ranges from the intimate family to the enraged mob, from planned crimes to religious culture from the divisions of race, gender and social class to the shared believes of social culture and also from the perspective of work to that of sports. This essay will majorly focus on structuration of tattoos as an aspect of sociology. The social world produces scary and amazing phenomena which sociologists have to deal with for example the tattooing body signs that are usually made on the human skin. The American traditional tattoos can be traced way back during the works of Jerry Collins and Ed Hardy amongst other artists. These tattoos, however, tend to be depicted on different styles at different body parts, for example, think nautical think daggers, roses, and skulls think mum written in a banner across a heart. Surprisingly, though tattoos were established a while ago, they do not seem to get vanished as they get embraced by generation after another. Health professions argue that crafting tattoos to ones body could have some adverse health conditions, for example, cancer causative agents could be contained on the crafting tools, therefore, exposing the persons body to danger. I would recommend that thorough screening is done on the equipment for the absolute extermination of the agents because a group of people is usually attended to using one set of the gadget, therefore, endangering their lives. One person I talked to about their tattoos and he told me that he had searched for a job in vain argued Father Gregory Boyle. Therefore, tattoos could be having a negative implication on the person, especially in official scenarios. It is very unlikely that a corporate offer one a job whose tattoo is on the face. This is based on the perspective that the person will taint their reputation. Therefore some cultures are absolutely against the tattooing structures. Therefore, some cultures could avoid you based on your looks without your consent. Father Gregory also emphasizes on the issue of kinship on his TED talk and therefore to see and understand the essence of mankind sticking together rather than rejecting anyone who looks a little bit different. Having tattoos is not a crime but a social decision thats made by a group of people. Tattoos have become intergenerational. They, therefore, operate under the notion that we do things because thats how they are done and thats who we are meaning that everyone around them did it as well. I find tattooing interesting in the sense that it can be done in different styles and they continue to develop and diversify as time goes on. As people continue to embrace new technology, they find means to improve tattoo structures and colour. In other words, tattooing is undergoing evolution as the society gets transformed too. The traditional tattooing is also subjected to the agency because without it then there would be no changes. This agency is however subjected to structure. Therefore, it can be argued that the traditional tattooing, agency, and structure are constituted to the cultural enterprise. Some artists, however, argue that structure limits them to working freely.in such cases, one may not have the absolute freedom to change into a structure of his choice. Tattooing and Deviance Tattooing has for a long period been considered as a direct link to crime and deviant related activity in the society. Indeed, the security sector was the first one to raise its eyes-brows to the tattooed people. Their argument is based on the illusion that criminals would always modify their skin appearance in an attempt to disguise their exact appearance. According to a research carried out by Lambroso a military member, deviance is argued to have been inherited. Therefore, as the tattooing culture is also hereditary, hence making them common. It can be argued that deviance was determined based on the persons physicality. Therefore, assessing somebodys physic would actually establish the level of their deviance. The traditional tattoos also likened to a peoples personality. The nature of the tattoo created on somebodys body tells much about them. This is proved by some portions of the modern criminology theory .an individual actually continues with the anti-social behaviour once they have been labelled. This fact is clearly emphasized by the label theory. However, the key concept behind this theory is that the persons deviant behaviour is temporary and that the deviant and criminal habits only continues if people, the society continue terming the individual as a deviant or criminal. The reference of the individual as a criminal tend to stigmatize them hence making them feel guilty and ostracized by the society. They only feel comfortable when they interact with other offenders. The offenders usually feel alienated due to the fact that they are termed as ex-juvenile or ex-con. The initial American society has always termed people with tattoos as of questionable reputation, therefore, it is realistic that bearing a tattoo in the modern world is also associated with dubious behaviour and questionable morals. They, therefore, cannot be entrusted with the most sensitive societal duties and responsibilities since their reputation is questionable at best. Their most common behaviour include substance abuse, suicide and other anti-social activities. There have always been arguments that certain tattoos are a clear and self-identification that someone is deviant or is criminal for example the teardrop tattoo. Even the title itself suggests that the person is likely being associated with unacceptable behaviour in the society. People usually argue that within a sub-culture of inmates or gangs it is highly likely that you find someone with a teardrop tattoo in his face. Tattoos also tend to bear some hidden meanings. For example, the five teardrop tattoo whose bearers tend to pass the message that they actually killed someone. They, therefore consider it necessary to disclose for purposes of hierarchy within their set-up for survival. As they say, survival is for the fittest hence such status gives the bearer some dignified respect from the colleagues, who would, therefore, rank his status within the sub-culture quite high. It is usually regarded as a fitness indication by the person hence when fellow prisoners see it, they dont need to inquire about the qualities of the bearer. It proves pivotal in case there are planned attacks on the bearer. Though the tattoo works for the good of the bearer to the specific context, its viewed as an indication of deviance and low class by the greater community. There has been some study to establish the relationship between the youth and tattoos, where delinquents tend to have tattoos more often than the non-delinquents. However, the grounds set by subsequent researchers on the relationship between tattooed youth offenders and deviant offenders. People with tattoos are considered to be drug abusers especially those in the adolescent stage. In most cases, having tattoos gives a clear indication that the youths have a certain pressure to perform a certain social activity hence forcing them to abuse drugs. Also, due to their tender age, the youth has the peer pressure to establish some issues and therefore find it necessary to abuse drugs in the belief that their plans will deliver positivity. Its argued that people who have two or more tattoos are likely to have abused marijuana, sedatives and other illegal drugs. It is also evident that these drug addicts have regular arrest stats. Therefore, tattooed-drug addicts are highly likely to have criminally related thoughts hence the chances of being confronted by the police are quite high. Homicide cases are also linked to certain tattoos where the bearers have attacked their spouses occasionally.in such cases families have been broken however, some studies indicate that these people are involved in multiple sexual affairs. These relationships, despite endangering the persons health they are also jeopardizing the stability of their family through the culprits seem to be unconcerned. There are various reasons why some people may consider getting tattoos but the core reason is to acquire self-expression. In such cases, the bearer believes that acquiring the tattoo will make people clearly understand their desire and motives. Peer influence is another key factor thats making people get tattooed. I personally would feel inferior if my peers had acquired a tattoo and I did not. The feeling of being locked out of a certain group has increasingly made people, especially the youth embrace tattoos. In conclusion, tattooing as a component of sociology entails a lot of cultural believes and practices. The different tattoo structures are meant to convey different meanings, identify certain social groups as different from others while enhancing their solidarity. Tattoos, however, have some negative implications as depicted in its deviance and criminal perspectives. These involve drug abuse, criminal gangs and other anti-social activities that make them ostracized in their society.
